Every child at Strathmore Primary School belongs to a school ‘house’. There are four houses – Fyne, Lomond, Ness and Tay – named after Scottish lochs. The names were chosen from a shortlist by the Can Do Council after a whole school questionnaire.
Through the school house system, good choices are recognised and pupils are awarded points for a variety of reasons. These are tied into our Visions, Values and Aims. Points can be awarded for good manners or acts of kindness and recognition is also given to special achievements and sporting success out of school.
Termly house winners are announced and at the end of each year, an overall House Champion shield is awarded. In addition, during sports’ day, children compete for their houses and an overall House Sports Champion shield.
At intervals throughout the year ‘house’ activities are planned. The children work with others across the year groups in these activities. This fosters a sense of belonging to a smaller “family” within the wider Strathmore Primary School community.
